The Fury by Alex Michaelides
Celadon Books (January 16, 2024)
About the author
Born and raised in Cyprus, Alex Michaelides calls the UK home. He studied English Literature in England and Screenwriting in Los Angeles. His first psychological thriller, The Silent Patient (Celadon 2019), which sold in a record-breaking 49 countries, occupied a spot on ‘The New York Times Bestseller List’ for more than a year. He’s also the author of The Maidens (Celadon Books, 2021). Read my review here.

About the book
Reclusive ex-movie star Lana Farrar is one of the most famous women in the world. She has a close circle of friends, and each year, she invites them for a stay on her private Greek island. Her dearest friend and confidante, Elliot Chase, narrates the story. He gathers, along with a friend and formal rival of Lana’s, as well as Lana’s husband. Weather traps them on the island and things go awry. And then there is a murder. But nothing is as it seems, and we learn more, but ‘whodunit’?
My Greek Books review
In the fine tradition of Agatha Christie, Alex Michaelides’ The Fury shines bright. There are so many twists and turns that every time I thought I had it figured out, something happened to change my mind. This book is a first-rate psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Don’t miss it!
Not Dead Yet by Jeffrey Siger*
Severn House (April 1, 2025)
About the author
Jeffrey Siger is an American living on the island of Mykonos. A former Wall Street lawyer, he gave up his career as a name partner in his own law firm to write. His international bestselling, award-recognized ‘Chief Inspector Andreas Kaldis’ series of mystery thrillers tell more than just a fast-paced story. Jeff’s also served as Chair of the National Board of Bouchercon, America’s largest mystery convention. He teaches mystery writing as Adjunct Professor of English at Washington & Jefferson College.

About the book
Wealthy Greek businessman Dimitris Onofrio is corrupt to the core, but the police have never been able to make his crimes stick. Powerful, influential, and extremely dangerous, he is not a man to cross, and every witness prepared to testify against him dies before they get the chance.
So when Onofrio’s private jet crashes, seemingly with no survivors, the police breathe a sigh of relief–until Onofrio is found alive but catatonic on a remote beach, alongside the body of his beloved wife. Was the crash an accident? Or sabotage? Then Chief Inspector Andreas Kaldis, head of Athens’ Special Crimes Division realizes his wife and her family are mixed up in all of it. But he’s told to stay away. Kaldis must find the truth before Onofrio recovers, otherwise the tycoon will be out for bloody revenge on everyone involved—including Kaldis’ wife.
My Greek books review
I’ve read and reviewed all of the books in ‘The Chief Inspector Andreas Kaldis’ series, and I’ve loved them all. Just when I think there might be nowhere left to go, Jeffrey Siger creates another well-crafted story, and Kaldis returns to solve another crime. It’s always great to catch up with the chief inspector, who always fights for the good. Jeff is so skilled at the plot twist; I sure didn’t see this one coming. Not Dead Yet comes out April 1. You’re gonna love it, too. Pre-order now.

Eleven Days to the Promised Land: A timely realization of the past and the present: An Autobiography by Dino Pavlou with James Farrell
Newman Springs (March 31, 2021)
About the author
Dino Pavlou was born in Valtesiniko, Arcadia, Greece. He grew up during WWII and the Greek Civil War. Later, an uncle sponsored him to come to the US, where he lived his own American dream. After serving in the army, he embarked on a career in which he rubbed elbows with some of the wealthiest, influential—and even dangerous—people.

About the book
Dino Pavlou shares his story from his boyhood days in Greece, including growing up during the war, and the murder of his father. We learn how he came to America and his early days here. Then we follow his time in the US Army, to his career as maître d’ at some of New York’s most exclusive clubs and then becoming a family man. We see a realized search for the American dream, though the road was not always paved with roses.
My Greek Books review
I had the pleasure to meet Dino Pavlou recently in a Zoom book club meeting. I’d heard of his book, though it lingered on my to-be-read list. After that exchange, I knew it was a must-read. Dino shares his extraordinary life, from a tiny village in Greece, to rubbing elbows with some of the most famous celebrities in New York. From his tragic and humble beginnings, he fought for his American dream, to face tragedy once more—and almost lose it all. Eleven Days to the Promised Land is an emotive look at this immigrant’s experience, and an entertaining story of some of his customers who became friends—including Frank Sinatra. I’m so glad he chronicled his inspiring story. This one is ripe with film potential! Add it to your list.
